Cable tie manufacturer finds products on the market that fail to meet industry levels for metal content
Cable fixings manufacturer HellermannTyton is warning that some plastic cable ties sold as having metal detectable content for use in the food manufacturing plant may contain such low percentages of metal that they will not be picked up by magnetic detection equipment. The company made this discovery after carrying out tests to confirm the detectability of their own products and benchmark them against others on the market. Products tested from companies recognised as amongst the market leaders met, and in some cases, exceeded industry guidelines but cheaper products were, in some case, completely undetectable.
